Certificates

In our team assembly this week, certificates were presented to Sophie (for being such a great Year 4 role model), to Matson ( for settling in so well at Halswell School), and to Emma T (for her great attitude to learning). Well done, guys! We are so lucky to have you in Room 15!

Getting to know you

In Maths we have been using data squares to gather information about each other. In pairs we thought of 3 things we wanted to find out about our classmates. We asked our questions, wrote the answers on data squares and sorted the squares in different ways to gather information. Some of the things we found out were that there are 3 more boys than girls in Room 15, two children are left-handed, the most popular eye colour is brown and everyone has missing teeth!

Our board games

As part of Literacy this week, we read 'Tiddler, the story telling fish' by Julia Donaldson. Tiddler makes up excuses for being late for school and we made board games based on the story. We had to be imaginative like Tiddler and we used alliteration and powerful verbs in the bad luck cards we made for our games. We tested our games out by playing them with our big buddies from Room 11. The activity got a big thumbs up from everyone!

February 22nd 2012.
We put our handprints on a big heart for Christchurch to show our love for our city. We had a special assembly at school and stood in silence at 12.51. Emma T and Joe released a balloon each, as the youngest girl and oldest boy in Room 15, to represent our class. It was a very moving day.

Wednesday

We have had a busy day today. First of all we had a visit from Constable Ross who came to talk to us about bullying. Remember to tell your Mums and Dads all the great things we discussed.
Then we had a dance session with Trudy that was awesome. We have some great movers in Room 15!
Tomorrow morning we have our first softball session. Can't wait!
We were sorry to say goodbye to Mikey on Friday. He is moving back to Levin with his Mum and Dad and little brother Nicholas. Good luck Mikey and remember to keep in touch with us!
Here are the wonderful ACTIVE learners in Room 15. What an awesome class!
